    Watch IIT-B on YouTube

Students of IIT-Bombay’s media and film division have set up a YouTube channel to keep the public updated of the institute’s activities.
Known as IIT Bombay Broadcasting Corporation (IITBBC), the site will feature all activities held on the campus.

The channel was launched on August 25. There are currently 21 videos on the site. IIT-Bombay has around 7000 students and 4000 members of staff.

According to reports, between 15 and 20 students will work on updating the channel. The students involved will follow a roster system to make sure that their studies will not be affected.

Although IIT videos are available on YouTube, students behind the channel claim that theirs is the first channel for an institute in India.
Expect to view sports, cultural, technical fests on the channel. There will also be interviews with professors and campus news.

The channel had 319 subscribers and 10 comments in praise of the work. The last video was uploaded a week ago.

Class 12 results will now be used to gain admission to the IITs instead of IIT-JEE.

The announcement to s**** all existing engineering exams, including IIT-JEE and AIEEE, was made by Union HRD minister Kapil Sibal on September 14 at a IIT Council consisting of IIT directors and officials from the ministry of HRD.

Sibal has proposed that there should be one entrance exam test for all engineering colleges. The exam is subject to approval from the state government, Union government and finance ministry.
Under the proposal, entrance will depend on Class 12 marks and how well the student does in the new entrance test. Counselling will still be available to students.

There are currently 150 entrance exams for engineering across the country.
